Modules Offered:
This module introduces you to the processes underlying the atmospheric environment from local to global scales. Here, we discuss atmospheric concepts in a visual and practical manner. Understanding and application of meteorological principles will be emphasised to help to elaborate environmental phenomena such as clouds and rainfall, tropical storms or global climate change. This course is appropriate for students from all faculties given its introductory and non-mathematical nature.

Modifications made by humans to the surface of the Earth during urbanization alter just about every element of climate and weather in the atmosphere above the city. This module examines how these changes affect environmental variables such as solar radiation, surface and air temperature, evaporation, storage of heat, wind climates, emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases and the wider implications for air quality and environmental change. This module is suited for students reading geography, climatology, ecology, engineering and planning.
